General information

This unique model represents a combination of two legendary machines - the largest cargo plane in the world Antonov AN-225 Mriya and the Soviet space shuttle Buran. The model depicts these two machines in an impressive configuration, with the Buran mounted on the back of a giant Antonov.

Origin and history

The Antonov AN-225 Mriya was developed in the 1980s primarily to transport the Buran space shuttle. Only one example of this giant airplane was ever built. Buran was the Soviet answer to the US Space Shuttle program, but only made one unmanned flight in 1988.
